Remembering First Bank Legend Carl Dudrey

March 19, 2018

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Dudrey, First Bank’s Chairman of the Board, on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Dudrey was Chairman of the Board for the past 25 years, from 1993-2018. During those 25 years, he helped see First Bank through a number of changes and advancements, including the addition of our current Chase and Lyons locations and the Hutchinson loan office.

Carl had a down-to-earth approach to business that helped establish First Bank as a financial leader in Central Kansas. His accomplishments in the banking industry were surpassed only by his commitment to the communities and organizations he served. He was actively involved in many business and civic interests, serving on boards of corporations and philanthropic organizations. His tireless work to help bring Kansas Ethanol to Rice County was a monumental achievement. Carl’s friends, business associates, and employees mourn his passing and remember his profound influence on their lives and careers.

“Carl’s impact on the bank was tremendous. The people he attracted, the level of service he strived for, the growth he created – these are lasting ways he helped make life better in the communities we serve. When he and I first entered into our banking partnership that would last a quarter of a century, he told me he did not sign on to be just average. Back then, little did I know what that could mean. Now, looking back, I have a great appreciation for what Carl meant.” First Bank President Jeff Laudermilk commented.
